Following our interest on Maloya, a major genre of Reunion inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Native from Madagascar and East Africa, banned music for a long time because it was associated with black slaves and the anti-colonial struggle of the communists, the Maloya has been perpetuated through the service kabaré, an animist ceremony that honors ancestors.
