CINEMA: “La Vierge, les Coptes et Moi” (2012) / “The Virgin, the Copts and Me” (2012)

Faites fi d’un titre à rallonge et d’une bande annonce pas très aguichante pour découvrir LA comédie de l’été ! Fiction, documentaire ou essai filmé, pour son premier long métrage, le réalisateur français Namir Abdel Messeehv mélange les genres et met en scène sa mère, sa famille égyptienne et lui-même pour notre plus grand plaisir. Parti en Egypte pour enquêter sur les apparitions de la Vierge, le réalisateur ne rebrousse pas chemin malgré l’échec de son enquête et le scepticisme de plus en plus affirmé de son producteur. Il part dans un second temps filmer sa famille dans le village de son enfance dans l’optique de reconstituer une apparition de la Vierge. Film magnifique sur la croyance, la foi et la famille, le film est aussi un bel hommage au cinéma avec une magnifique scène finale en présence des villageois.

Après 3-4 ans de travail et plusieurs allers-retours France-Egypte, Namir Abdel Messeehv nous présente avec “La Vierge, les Coptes et Moi” (2012) une magnifique comédie pleine de vie à ne pas rater.

Fiction, documentary or essay, for his first feature film, French director Namir Abdel Messeehv mixes genres and direct his mother, his Egyptian family and himself for our pleasure. Gone in Egypt to investigate the apparitions of the Virgin, the director stays there despite the failure of his investigation and the increasingly skepticism of his producer. He went in a second time to shot his family in the village of his childhood in order to make a reconstitution of an apparition of the Virgin. Beautiful film about belief, faith and family, the film is also a tribute to the cinema with a magnificent final scene in the presence of villagers.

After 3-4 years of work and several trips between France and Egypt, Namir Abdel Messeehv presents us, with “The Virgin, the Copts and Me” (2012), a wonderful full of life comedy not to be missed.
