Mixture of Abdel Kechiche for popular verve and Ken Loach for the social, the English film, Fish Tank, directed by Andrea Arnold, Jury Prize Winner of the Cannes Film Festival in 2009, is pleasantly surprising in its description of a family (a mother and her two daughters) where no man does not prevent some violence which is expressed in the verbal jousting between the members of this family.
Fish Tank is an intelligent and subtle film, where two magnificent latest shots of the film between Mia and her mother (dance scene) and between Mia and her little sister (hug goodbye) emphasize the delicacy of the director to portray her characters, all summarized in the beautiful words whispered by the little sister hugging her sister: “I hate you.”
Due to the hardness of its description of the living of a certain English social class, Fish Tank is perhaps not an easy story to hear but it remains a beautiful film to discover.
