Inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO since October 1, 2009, maloya is one of the major musical genres of La Reunion. Song, dance and music of slaves, maloya has long been prohibited by the government. But since the late ’70s and the first record of the Firmin Viry band, it has become the symbol of Reunion.
Cette semaine, zoom sur le kayamb, instrument à percussion formé de graines et de tiges de fleur de canne.
