Here is a beautiful tale in this time of festivities: after making a short film for a fistful of dollars and have posted it on Youtube, the Uruguayan director, Fede Alvarez, 30, has quickly met with success (more than one million viewing now) by being contacted by several major U.S. companies. The story of a fairy tale which respects itself has made him to sign to Ghost House Pictures, the company of the American director, Sam Raimy ( “Evil Dead”, “Spiderman”).

We’ll wait and see..

Like the child of his short film, Fede Alvarez passes then from small robots (his short movie cost 300-500 dollars) to greatest toys (a budget of 30-40 million dollars for a first feature film).

For the film itself, it is the story of a little boy who is playing with his little robots before attending the warlike arrival of largest specimens. Not really story here but mostly an opportunity for the director to show his visual talent (successful combination of live action and special effects).

Surfing on the success of “District 9” and “Paranormal Activity”, this short movie is a successful publicity stunt for the  Uruguayan commercials director. And just like the end of his short, we hope that his future film will explode everything! We’ll wait and see…
