[CRITIQUE DVD] "My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn" (2014) of Liv Corfixen

My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn is the first film of Liv Corfixen, the wife of the Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn. Behind the documentary on the work and the intimacy of Nicolas draws the portrait of a woman remained too long in the shadow of the Director.

Synopsis:

LIV Corfixen followed her husband Nicolas Winding Refn of the pre-production of the film Only God Forgives, during which he brought his family with him for 6 months in Bangkok, to the presentation of the film at the Cannes Festival.  Its very special relation to the filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky to his strong friendship with Ryan Gosling, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn takes us to the heart of the creative process and the private life of one of the greatest directors of the 21st century.

My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn:
The making of a movie?

Danish actress on the films of his famous husband (Bleeder, Pusher, Inside Job), Liv Corfixen had to put his career aside from his marriage with the filmmaker in 2007 a little and the arrival of their two children. This stay in Thailand where it is the first time they could accompany Nicolas Winding Refn on a shoot abroad will eventually sign his return in cinema. To turn images on her husband to work but without purpose, she will can leave little in the hollow of the filmed images show the portrait of a woman in the imposing shadow of a world-famous artist.

Only God Forgives shooting will be the backdrop to this My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn documentary where we cross including the Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky troublemaker and the fetish actor of the Danish filmmaker, Ryan Gosling.

Anecdotes about the filming of the movie in Thailand will not fail, as this fun carpet dealer negotiation between Nicolas Winding Refn and Thai organizers who want to organize a screening in the presence of Ryan Gosling and him. Nicolas will accept the deal to win $ 100,000 that he immediately re-injected in the budget of his current film. Or still this fun discussion of Nicolas with Ryan on the Director of what design is an action movie ("violence is like sex. Everything is in foreplay"). Or later, work on the set with the Coordinator of the cascades for a shooting scene.

The exciting and touching portrait
a couple

But in addition to the tingling of these anecdotes about the work of the filmmaker Danish, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn is also interested in the man and his family. Children's eyes on his work ("it's not the end of the world if it rains. This is just a movie"), interview with the filmmaker in the morning, Ryan game with children… This approach of Liv Corfix plunges us into the intimacy of the artist, revealing little by little the face of an artist perpetually worried and anxious on the quality of her work in progress: "I can't show signs of anxiety, of doubt, of nervousness".

Camera in hand, and under the guise of a making of, Liv Corfix reveals his family's privacy and draws little by little in My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn portrait exciting and touching of an artist to the fact of his glory and full doubt as well as that of a wife and mother who doesn't want more fade but also exist and concentrate on his career.

For the record, the filming of this documentary was extended later by a real couple for Nicolas and Liv therapy and enable them to overcome their problems revealed in part in the film.
